- 1 1/2 pounds boneless rib eye steak
- 1/2 small pear (peeled and grated)
- 1/4 cup reduced sodium soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons toasted sesame oil
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
- 1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean red pepper paste)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (divided)
- 2 green onions (thinly sliced)
- 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
Instructions
- Prepare the Steak: Wrap the rib eye in plastic wrap and freeze for 30 minutes. Unwrap and slice against the grain into thin strips.
- Make the Marinade: In a bowl, mix grated pear, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and gochujang until well combined.
- Marinate the Beef: Place sliced beef in a gallon-size Ziploc bag with the marinade. Seal and marinate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- Cook the Beef: Heat vegetable oil in a cast iron grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook marinated beef in batches for about 2-3 minutes per side until charred.
- Serve: Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Marinate overnight for best results.
