- 8 slices deli ham
- 8 slices deli turkey
- 8 slices Swiss cheese
- 3 large eggs
- 1/4 cup milk (For batter)
- 2 tbsp butter (For frying)
- Powdered sugar (For dusting)
- Raspberry or strawberry jam (For dipping)
- 1 pinch salt
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (Optional)
- Dijon mustard (Spread lightly on bread)
- Gruyere cheese (Optional, instead of Swiss)
- Honey (Drizzle on top)
- Fresh berries (For serving)
Instructions
- Lay out 4 slices of bread. On each slice, layer 2 slices of ham, 2 slices of turkey, and 2 slices of Swiss cheese. Top with the remaining slices of bread and press gently.
- In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and vanilla until smooth.
- Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat. Dip each sandwich fully in the egg batter, letting the excess drip off.
- Fry each sandwich for 3–4 minutes on each side until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Cut the sandwiches diagonally, dust heavily with powdered sugar, and serve warm with jam for dipping.
Notes
Use thick slices of bread or brioche for a heartier sandwich. Let the sandwich sit for a minute after frying to allow the cheese to set slightly before cutting. Feel free to experiment with different cheeses like Gruyere for a different flavor profile.
