Description

A classic dessert combining rich chocolate flavors and a creamy texture, perfect for gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups chocolate cookie crumbs
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whipped cream (store-bought or homemade)
  • ½ cup chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts)
  • Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the chocolate cookie crumbs and melted butter in a mixing bowl until well blended.
  3. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9-inch pie pan to form an even layer. Bake for 10 minutes and let it cool.
  4. Combine the heavy cream and chocolate chips in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir continuously until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
  5. Whisk together the eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt in a separate bowl until well combined.
  6. Gradually add the melted chocolate mixture to the egg mixture, stirring constantly to prevent the eggs from cooking.
  7. Pour the filling into the cooled crust.
  8. Bake for 30 minutes, or until the filling is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
  9. Remove from the oven and let it cool completely before refrigerating for at least 2 hours.
  10. Spread whipped cream evenly over the top before serving.
  11. Sprinkle with chopped nuts and chocolate shavings for added texture and flavor.
  12. Slice the pie into wedges and serve chilled.

Notes

For more flavor, consider a splash of coffee in the filling or a layer of caramel for a salted caramel twist.
