Description
A classic dessert combining rich chocolate flavors and a creamy texture, perfect for gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups chocolate cookie crumbs
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup whipped cream (store-bought or homemade)
- ½ cup chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts)
- Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Combine the chocolate cookie crumbs and melted butter in a mixing bowl until well blended.
- Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9-inch pie pan to form an even layer. Bake for 10 minutes and let it cool.
- Combine the heavy cream and chocolate chips in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir continuously until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
- Whisk together the eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt in a separate bowl until well combined.
- Gradually add the melted chocolate mixture to the egg mixture, stirring constantly to prevent the eggs from cooking.
- Pour the filling into the cooled crust.
- Bake for 30 minutes, or until the filling is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool completely before refrigerating for at least 2 hours.
- Spread whipped cream evenly over the top before serving.
- Sprinkle with chopped nuts and chocolate shavings for added texture and flavor.
- Slice the pie into wedges and serve chilled.
Notes
For more flavor, consider a splash of coffee in the filling or a layer of caramel for a salted caramel twist.
