Description

Enjoy the nostalgic flavor of bratwurst and sweet caramelized onions, all brought together with the magic of oven-braising.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 Beer (lager or any preferred type)
  • 4 Bratwurst sausages
  • 2 Onions (sliced)
  • 2 tablespoons Butter (or oil)
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Optional: mustard or bread for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Sauté butter over medium heat and add the sliced onions. Cook until caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Arrange bratwurst side by side in a baking dish.
  4. Combine caramelized onions on top of the bratwurst.
  5. Pour beer over the sausages and onions, then season with salt and pepper.
  6. Bake covered with aluminum foil for 25-30 minutes.
  7. Finish by removing the foil and baking for an additional 10 minutes.
  8. Serve with mustard or on buns, as desired.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. For a smokier flavor, consider using smoked bratwurst.
