Description

A delicious and easy-to-make artisan bread with a crispy crust and soft, cheesy interior, perfect for any meal.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 3½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • 1½ tsp salt
  • 1¼ cups warm water
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¾ cup finely grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Mix the warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Combine the all-purpose flour, salt, minced garlic, and Parmesan cheese in a larger bowl. Stir to mix.
  3. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Stir until the dough begins to form.
  4. Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes on a floured surface until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
  7. Punch down the risen dough and shape it into a round loaf. Place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Sprinkle extra Parmesan cheese on top if desired.
  9. Let the dough rest for another 30 minutes.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  11. Remove from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

For best flavor, use fresh garlic. Store in plastic wrap for up to 2 days at room temperature or freeze for longer storage.
