Ingredients

- 3½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2¼ tsp active dry yeast
- 1½ tsp salt
- 1¼ cups warm water
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- ¾ cup finely grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Mix the warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- Combine the all-purpose flour, salt, minced garlic, and Parmesan cheese in a larger bowl. Stir to mix.
- Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Stir until the dough begins to form.
- Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes on a floured surface until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
- Punch down the risen dough and shape it into a round loaf. Place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Sprinkle extra Parmesan cheese on top if desired.
- Let the dough rest for another 30 minutes.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
For best flavor, use fresh garlic. Store in plastic wrap for up to 2 days at room temperature or freeze for longer storage.
