- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup warm water (110°F)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup sliced pepperoni
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 cup marinara sauce
Instructions
- Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a small bowl. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- Mix flour and salt in a large mixing bowl. Create a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil.
- Knead until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes, or until it doubles in size.
- Punch down the risen dough and transfer it to a floured surface.
- Roll it out into a rectangle, approximately 12×16 inches in size.
- Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly over the rolled-out dough.
- Layer the pepperoni slices on top of the cheese, followed by Parmesan cheese and seasonings.
- Roll the dough tightly from one long edge into a log.
- Cut the log into 1-inch thick slices and place them on a greased baking sheet.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to a week. Freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat in the oven for crispiness.
