Description

Crispy pretzel-coated chicken served with a rich mustard-cheddar sauce, perfect for family dinners and special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 cups pretzel crumbs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. Set up your breading station in three bowls: Bowl 1 with flour, Bowl 2 with whisked eggs, and Bowl 3 with pretzel crumbs.
  4. Dip each chicken breast first into the flour, shaking off excess.
  5. Next, dip it into the egg mixture and allow excess to drip off.
  6. Finally, press the chicken into the pretzel crumbs until fully coated. Repeat for all chicken breasts.
  7. Place the breaded chicken breasts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Drizzle with olive oil for added crispiness.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the chicken reaches 165°F (75°C) and is golden brown.
  10. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine olive oil, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce; stir until well mixed.
  11. Gradually add the heavy cream, stirring continuously until smooth.
  12. Reduce heat to low, add shredded cheddar cheese, and stir until melted. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  13. Remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes.
  14. Serve the crispy chicken drizzled with mustard-cheddar sauce.

Notes

For extra crunch, consider double-coating the chicken. Let the chicken rest after baking for juicier results.
