Description

Delightful Red Velvet Truffles combining rich chocolate flavor with vibrant red color, perfect for any celebration or sweet craving.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tbsp red food coloring
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients in another bowl.
  3. Combine the dry mixture with the butter mixture.
  4. Add the egg, red food coloring, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes.
  6. Cool the cake completely.
  7. Prepare the filling by beating cream cheese and mixing in powdered sugar.
  8. Crumble the cooled cake into fine pieces.
  9. Combine cake and filling until well mixed.
  10. Shape into 1-inch balls and place on a baking sheet.
  11. Chill for at least one hour.
  12. Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave.
  13. Coat each truffle in the melted chocolate.
  14. Decorate with sprinkles or nuts if desired.
  15. Chill again for 30 minutes to set.

Notes

Use room temperature butter and cream cheese for easier mixing. Adjust the red food coloring to achieve your desired shade.
