Description

A quick and delicious dish that combines tender beef, fresh vegetables, and flavorful sauces, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound Beef (sirloin, top round steak, or flank steak)
  • ½ teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 6 tablespoons Water, divided
  • 6 ounces Long Noodles (spaghetti or fettuccine)
  • ¼ cup Soy Sauce (reduced sodium)
  • ¼ cup Hoisin Sauce
  • 4 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger (finely chopped)
  • ½ teaspoon Crushed Red Pepper Flakes
  • 2 medium Carrots
  • 1 head Broccoli
  • 1 can Water Chestnuts (8-ounce, drained)
  • 4 Green Onions (sliced, divided)
  • 1 tablespoon Canola Oil
  • 2 teaspoons Sesame Oil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Start by slicing the beef into thin strips. In a bowl, mix the beef with baking soda and 2 tablespoons of water. Let it marinate for about 15 minutes. This will make the beef tender.
  2. Cook the noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large pan, heat the canola oil over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry until browned, about 3-4 minutes. Remove the beef and set it aside.
  4. Add the garlic, ginger, and carrots to the same pan with 4 tablespoons of water. Cook for about 2-3 minutes, until the carrots start to soften.
  5. Return the broccoli, water chestnuts, and the cooked beef back into the pan. Stir everything together.
  6. Pour in the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, and crushed red pepper flakes. Stir to combine and cook for another 2 minutes.
  7. Finally, add the cooked noodles and toss everything until well mixed. Drizzle with sesame oil if using.

Notes

For perfect beef, slice it against the grain. Customize the vegetables based on your preferences.
