Description
A hearty and nutritious one-pot meal perfect for family nights, combining ground beef, cabbage, and rice.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb Ground Beef (or turkey for a leaner option)
- 1 cup Rice (white or brown)
- 1 head Cabbage (green or savoy)
- 1 medium Onion (yellow or white)
- 1 medium Green Bell Pepper (or any sweet pepper)
- 1 can Tomato Sauce (or homemade)
- 1 can Condensed Tomato Soup
- 1/2 cup Water (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the chopped onion and bell pepper to the skillet and sauté until tender, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the rice, tomato sauce, condensed tomato soup, and water. Mix well and let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Chop the cabbage into bite-sized pieces. Layer half of the cabbage in the bottom of a greased baking dish.
- Pour the beef and rice mixture over the cabbage.
- Top with the remaining cabbage.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the cabbage is tender and the edges are slightly crispy.
Notes
Serve hot with crusty bread or a fresh side salad. Optionally, sprinkle some grated cheese on top before serving.
