Description
A rich and creamy mushroom gravy perfect for comfort foods like mashed potatoes and pasta.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 tbsp Butter
- 1 tbsp Olive Oil
- 8 oz Mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cloves Garlic, minced
- 0.5 tsp Dried Thyme
- 0.5 tsp Salt
- 0.25 tsp Black Pepper
- 1 tsp Soy or Worcestershire Sauce
- 2 tbsp All-Purpose Flour
- 1.5 cups Vegetable or Beef Broth
- 0.5 cups Heavy Cream or Coconut Cream
Instructions
- In a saucepan, heat the butter and olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and cook until they are softened and browned, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper. Cook for another minute until you smell the garlic.
- Sprinkle the flour over the mushroom mixture. Stir well to combine everything, cooking for about a minute to remove the raw flour taste.
- Gradually pour in the vegetable or beef broth while continuously stirring. Bring the gravy to a simmer, allowing it to thicken for about 3-5 minutes.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the heavy cream or coconut cream. If you like, add the soy or Worcestershire sauce for extra flavor. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
Notes
Feel free to use different types of mushrooms and herbs to customize the flavor.
