Description

A classic comfort food featuring layers of flavorful ground beef topped with creamy mashed potatoes, baked until golden brown.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds potatoes (peeled and cut into chunks)
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion (diced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 cups frozen peas, carrots, and corn
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Boil the potatoes until they are fork-tender, then drain.
  3. Mash the potatoes with butter, sour cream, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  4. Brown the ground beef with the diced onions and minced garlic in a skillet, then drain the excess fat.
  5. Add the frozen veggies to the skillet and cook for 5–7 minutes.
  6. Stir in some flour, then add the beef broth, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, rosemary, and thyme; let it simmer for 10 minutes.
  7. Spread the meat mixture in a greased baking dish and top it with the mashed potatoes.
  8. Bake for about 30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.

Notes

For creamier mashed potatoes, add a splash of milk or cream during mashing. Use a mix of different ground meats for varied flavor.
