- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 hamburger buns
Instructions
- Heat a bit of oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the diced onion and bell pepper. Cook until they are soft, about 5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
- Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef. Cook until it is browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
- Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
- Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and mustard. Mix until everything is well combined.
- Season with salt and pepper. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Toast the hamburger buns lightly on a separate skillet or in a toaster.
- Spoon the Sloppy Joe mixture onto the bottom halves of the buns. Top with the other half of the bun.
