- 1 box (13.25 oz) vanilla cake mix
- â…“ cup neutral oil (vegetable, avocado, canola)
- 1 cup milk or water
- 4 large eggs
- ¼ cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 12 oz candy melts
- Sprinkles or nonpareils for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325-350°F (162-175°C). Prepare the cake batter according to the package instructions.
- Bake the cake according to the recommended time. Ensure the cake is fully baked by checking with a toothpick; it should come out clean. Avoid overbaking.
- Once the cake cools, crumble it into a large mixing bowl.
- Make buttercream by mixing softened butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk.
- Combine the crumbled cake with the buttercream until well mixed.
- Roll the mixture into balls about 1¼ inches in diameter.
- Chill the cake balls in the freezer for 15 minutes.
- Dip lollipop sticks into melted candy melts, then insert them into each ball.
- Freeze the cake pops again for another 15 minutes.
- Dip each pop into the melted candy melts, allowing any excess to drip off. Decorate with sprinkles before the coating sets.
