Description

  • 1 cup homemade strawberry jam
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, pureed for frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven and Prepare Your Pans: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and liberally grease and flour three 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Combine the Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well mixed.
  3. Mix the Wet Ingredients and Incorporate Boiling Water: Add the eggs, whole milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry mix. Stir until well combined and then slowly pour in the boiling water while mixing.
  4. Bake the Cake Layers: Evenly distribute the batter among the prepared pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  5. Make the Cream Cheese Frosting: Beat the cream cheese and unsalted butter together until creamy, then gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth and fluffy. Fold in the pureed strawberries.
  6. Layer the Cake: Once cooled, layer with homemade strawberry jam and sliced strawberries between the cake layers.
  7. Frost and Decorate: Top with frosting and decorate as desired.
