Description
A fun and colorful science experiment that creates beautiful swirling colors using sugar and vinegar.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 tablespoons Granulated Sugar
- 1 tablespoon White Distilled Vinegar
- Food Coloring (optional)
- Clear Containers
Instructions
- Gather your ingredients: granulated sugar, white distilled vinegar, food coloring, small mixing bowls or cups, spoons, a measuring cup, and your clear viewing container.
- Place about 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar in each small bowl. Add 1 tablespoon of white distilled vinegar and stir until most sugar dissolves.
- Warm the mixture gently in the microwave for 10-15 seconds to help dissolve the sugar better (with adult supervision).
- Add a few drops of different food coloring to each bowl and stir until vibrant and evenly colored.
- Pour a base layer of plain white distilled vinegar into your clear container as the ‘sky’ for the fireworks.
- Drizzle the colored sugar-vinegar solutions into the plain vinegar and watch as they sink and swirl.
- Enjoy the spectacle of swirling colors as they mix and diffuse!
