Description
Delicious and fun sliders that are perfect for summer lunches. Great for kids and easy to make!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound (450 g) ground beef, 80/20 blend
- 8 small slider buns (potato buns recommended)
- 4 slices cheddar or American cheese
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons softened butter
- Pickles, sliced (optional)
- Ketchup (to taste)
- Mustard (to taste)
- Lettuce leaves, small (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your cast iron or heavy skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes until smoking hot.
- In a mixing bowl, gently season ground beef with salt and black pepper. Combine without overmixing.
- Divide the meat into 8 equal portions (about 2 ounces / 60 g each) and loosely form into balls.
- Spread softened butter on the cut side of each slider bun. Toast butter-side down on a separate pan or grill for 1-2 minutes until golden and crispy. Set aside.
- Place 2-3 meatballs in the hot skillet without overcrowding. Using a sturdy spatula, press each ball firmly into a thin patty about ¼ inch (6 mm) thick. Hold pressure for 10-15 seconds.
- Cook patties undisturbed for 2-3 minutes until edges are crispy and browned. Flip carefully, add a slice of cheese on top, and cook another 1-2 minutes until cheese melts and patties are cooked through.
- Assemble sliders by placing patties on toasted buns. Add pickles, ketchup, mustard, and lettuce as desired.
- Serve immediately while hot and fresh.
Notes
For extra flavor, consider adding chopped onions to the beef mix. These sliders are best served hot off the skillet.
