Description
A creamy and zesty coleslaw that adds a crunchy texture to hotdogs and is perfect for summer barbecues.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 2 1/2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 1/2 tbsp cider vinegar
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp celery seeds
- 2 drops hot sauce
- 4 cups cabbage (shredded into 1/8-inch strips)
- 3/4 cup carrots
Instructions
- Whisk together the mayonnaise, sour cream, sugar, lemon juice, and cider vinegar until smooth and well combined.
- Add the salt, onion powder, black pepper, celery seeds, and hot sauce. Stir well until all seasonings are incorporated into the dressing.
- Prep the vegetables by shredding the cabbage into thin 1/8-inch strips and cutting the carrots into matchstick-sized pieces or thin shreds.
- Add the cabbage and carrots directly to the prepared dressing. Toss thoroughly until the vegetables are evenly coated.
- Let the coleslaw sit for at least 10-15 minutes before serving to enhance flavors and soften vegetables slightly while keeping their crunch.
- Serve cold as a topping for hotdogs or as a refreshing side dish.
Notes
For best flavor, use fresh vegetables. Adjust hot sauce to taste. Can be made ahead of time.
