Description

A creamy and zesty coleslaw that adds a crunchy texture to hotdogs and is perfect for summer barbecues.


Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 1/2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 tbsp cider vinegar
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp celery seeds
  • 2 drops hot sauce
  • 4 cups cabbage (shredded into 1/8-inch strips)
  • 3/4 cup carrots

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the mayonnaise, sour cream, sugar, lemon juice, and cider vinegar until smooth and well combined.
  2. Add the salt, onion powder, black pepper, celery seeds, and hot sauce. Stir well until all seasonings are incorporated into the dressing.
  3. Prep the vegetables by shredding the cabbage into thin 1/8-inch strips and cutting the carrots into matchstick-sized pieces or thin shreds.
  4. Add the cabbage and carrots directly to the prepared dressing. Toss thoroughly until the vegetables are evenly coated.
  5. Let the coleslaw sit for at least 10-15 minutes before serving to enhance flavors and soften vegetables slightly while keeping their crunch.
  6. Serve cold as a topping for hotdogs or as a refreshing side dish.

Notes

For best flavor, use fresh vegetables. Adjust hot sauce to taste. Can be made ahead of time.
