Description

A tasty, low-carb dish featuring crispy bacon wrapped around tender asparagus spears, perfect as a side dish or appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 18 asparagus spears, trimmed
  • 9 bacon slices
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 0.75 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp pepper
  • 0.25 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar, reduced until thick

Instructions

  1. Trim the woody ends from the asparagus by bending each until it snaps at the tender point.
  2. Pat the asparagus dry with paper towels.
  3. Combine the salt, pepper, and garlic powder in a small bowl.
  4. Toss the asparagus with half of the seasoning blend.
  5. Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. Divide the asparagus into 9 bundles of 3 spears each.
  7. Wrap one bacon slice around each bundle, seam-side down.
  8. Dot each bundle with about 1 teaspoon of butter.
  9. Sprinkle the remaining seasoning blend over the bundles.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes, checking around 18 minutes.
  11. Remove from the oven and drizzle with reduced balsamic vinegar.

Notes

Use fresh asparagus for the best flavor. Adjust seasoning to your preference; try different types of bacon for variety.
