Description
Delicious homemade cinnamon rolls that are light, fluffy, and can be prepared in just one hour.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup milk (whole or 2%)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (1/2 stick)
- 1 packet active dry yeast (0.25 oz)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
- 4 oz cream cheese
- 2 cups powdered sugar
Instructions
- Melt butter and warm the milk until it reaches between 100-110°F.
- Combine the melted butter, warm milk, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Let this mixture sit for 10 minutes until frothy.
- Add the egg, salt, and vanilla to the yeast mixture. Gradually mix in the flour until everything is combined.
- Knead the dough gently for a few minutes. Then, let it rest in a warm oven for about 10 minutes.
- Prepare the filling by mixing softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and a splash of vanilla in a bowl.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangular shape. Spread the filling evenly over the dough and then roll it up tightly.
- Cut the rolled dough into slices and place them into a baking pan.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Allow the rolls to cool slightly before icing them with a cream cheese mixture.
Notes
Make sure the milk is warm but not too hot, and knead the dough just until combined for best results.
