Description

Delicious homemade cinnamon rolls that are light, fluffy, and can be prepared in just one hour.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup milk (whole or 2%)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (1/2 stick)
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (0.25 oz)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 4 oz cream cheese
  • 2 cups powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Melt butter and warm the milk until it reaches between 100-110°F.
  2. Combine the melted butter, warm milk, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Let this mixture sit for 10 minutes until frothy.
  3. Add the egg, salt, and vanilla to the yeast mixture. Gradually mix in the flour until everything is combined.
  4. Knead the dough gently for a few minutes. Then, let it rest in a warm oven for about 10 minutes.
  5. Prepare the filling by mixing softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and a splash of vanilla in a bowl.
  6. Roll out the dough into a rectangular shape. Spread the filling evenly over the dough and then roll it up tightly.
  7. Cut the rolled dough into slices and place them into a baking pan.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. Allow the rolls to cool slightly before icing them with a cream cheese mixture.

Notes

Make sure the milk is warm but not too hot, and knead the dough just until combined for best results.
