- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup real maple syrup
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (for icing)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup real maple syrup (for icing)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl. Set aside.
- Beat together softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a large bowl until creamy.
- Add in the maple syrup, egg, and vanilla extract; mix until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until just combined.
- Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- Melt 1/2 cup of butter in a saucepan until browned for the icing. Remove from heat, then whisk in powdered sugar and maple syrup until smooth.
- Drizzle the brown butter icing over the cooled cookies. Enjoy!
Notes
For extra flavor, add chopped walnuts or pecans on top of the icing.
