Description

Delightful cookies featuring a rich maple flavor paired with a nutty brown butter icing, perfect for cozy gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup real maple syrup
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (for icing)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup real maple syrup (for icing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl. Set aside.
  3. Beat together softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a large bowl until creamy.
  4. Add in the maple syrup, egg, and vanilla extract; mix until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until just combined.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  8. Melt 1/2 cup of butter in a saucepan until browned for the icing. Remove from heat, then whisk in powdered sugar and maple syrup until smooth.
  9. Drizzle the brown butter icing over the cooled cookies. Enjoy!

Notes

For extra flavor, add chopped walnuts or pecans on top of the icing.
