- 1 box of moist cake mix
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/2 cup water (for glaze)
- Whipped cream (for serving)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven according to cake mix instructions. Grease and flour a 9×13 inch cake pan.
- Combine the cake mix, eggs, and 1 cup of water in a large mixing bowl. Mix until smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake as directed on the cake mix box.
- Prepare the strawberry glaze while the cake is baking. In a saucepan, combine sliced strawberries, sugar, cornstarch, and 1/2 cup of water. Cook over medium heat until thickened, stirring frequently.
- Let the cake cool for a few minutes then poke holes in it using a fork. Pour the strawberry glaze over the cake, letting it soak in.
- Serve slices with whipped cream on top.
Notes
For best flavor, use fresh, ripe strawberries. Allow the cake to cool before adding the glaze for better soaking.
