Description

A warm and comforting twist on a classic dessert, combining sweet caramel with smooth whiskey.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 cups of cubed bread (preferably day-old French or brioche)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups of heavy cream
  • 1 cup of whole milk
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of whiskey
  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 cup of caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, milk, sugar, whiskey, vanilla, and salt until well combined.
  3. Add the cubed bread to the mixture, gently folding to combine and ensure all the bread is soaked.
  4. Let the mixture sit for about 15 minutes to allow the bread to absorb the custard.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish.
  6. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the custard is set and the top is golden brown.
  7. Drizzle with caramel sauce before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature!

Notes

For best texture, use day-old bread. Optionally, mix in raisins or chocolate chips for added flavor.
