Description
A warm and comforting twist on a classic dessert, combining sweet caramel with smooth whiskey.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 cups of cubed bread (preferably day-old French or brioche)
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups of heavy cream
- 1 cup of whole milk
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1/2 cup of whiskey
- 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 1 cup of caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, milk, sugar, whiskey, vanilla, and salt until well combined.
- Add the cubed bread to the mixture, gently folding to combine and ensure all the bread is soaked.
- Let the mixture sit for about 15 minutes to allow the bread to absorb the custard.
- Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the custard is set and the top is golden brown.
- Drizzle with caramel sauce before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature!
Notes
For best texture, use day-old bread. Optionally, mix in raisins or chocolate chips for added flavor.
